Wolf & Shepherd

A former decathlete for Notre Dame, Justin Schneider knows all about the importance of comfortable shoes when it comes to performing. In 2015, he set out to create a men’s footwear company that takes all the comfort of your favorite running shoe and neatly conceals it in a classic style. Wolf & Shepherd does this while maintaining a classic Italian silhouette and the highest market standard of leather on the market. -- His startup company, Wolf & Shepherd, specializes in high-end luxury shoes that, in his words, “don’t feel like you’re walking on wood and nails.”

After graduating with a degree in Industrial Design from Notre Dame, Schneider designed shoes in-house for companies including Adidas, New Balance and Reebok. His vision for Wolf & Shepherd shoes came out of a conversation with a friend who complained about the difficult commute to his job in New York City in professional, but uncomfortable shoes. Schneider has designed features to improve wearability and lightness, such as a proprietary memory foam footbed that molds itself to each customers foot and has replaced the wood and nails of classic dress shoes with high-density foam found in an ultra-marathoners running shoe.

His venture was awarded the $25,000 grand prize in 2015 at the McCloskey Business Plan Competition sponsored by the Mendoza College of Business, in which the Wolf & Shepherd team had to beat out over 400 other contestants. The Wolf & Shepherd performance footwear collection can be found at www.wolfandshepherd.com along with Schneider’s story.
