Greetings from the Gigot Center for Entrepreneurship.
As we head towards spring, our flagship program – the McCloskey Business Plan Competition – is front and center. This year the number and quality of entries is again very strong, as is the contribution from our many mentors and judges. In addition, we are engaging in several strategic collaborations with partners such as Under Armour, the ACC Conference, and Schurz communications that will extend our reach and provide new and impactful learning opportunities for our students.
Our emphasis on driving entrepreneurship as a force for good is strong and gaining momentum in a variety of ways. In October, the Gigot Center hosted the 4th Irish Impact Conference which featured a keynote address by Goldman Sachs VP Andi Phillips. The Gigot Center and Mendoza College of Business have a big vision to position Notre Dame as a global center of excellence in this force for good space, so watch for more examples of leadership and momentum.
Perhaps our proudest accomplishment comes not from ourselves, but from the rising tide of successful ND entrepreneurs. In the past six months, we have had multiple alums succeed on ABC’s Shark Tank program and also had several ND founders recognized in the Forbes 30 Under 30 program. Our goal as an entrepreneurship center is to build entrepreneurial confidence and the amazing accomplishments of our alumni gives a glimpse of the magnitude of the opportunity we are pursuing.
